Are there ways to live in love all the time, without an object or a love affair? The answer: a resounding YES! How? Through the power and intelligence of the heart.

Living in Love all the Time, by Finding Your One True Love through the Heart

Why is Valentines Day, a day associated with love, also associated with the heart? Is the connection between love and the heart more than just a poetic metaphor?

Most of us know the magic that can happen when you first fall in love. It can make everything else in your life seem to fall into place: work goes better, you dont catch colds as easily, everyone tells you how good you look, and things look good to you as even colors can seem brighter and food tastes better. Many report greater awareness in all of their perceptions and a stronger connection to intuitive awareness when they are in love. Decisions suddenly become obvious as priorities clarify and inner conflicts dissolve. Parents often experience a similar phenomena when they fall in love with their newborns.

How fabulous would it be if you could fall in love without the fear of loss, or bounce back from a breakup with breaking your heart?

There is a physiological explanation for the positive changes we experience when we fall in love, an explanation which, once fully understood, can allow us to choose love and live in love more of the time independent of loves objects. Rather than falling into love by accident or serendipity, knowing how love works in the body (which happens to relate to the heart!) empowers us to be able to make love on purpose, generating all the benefits and freedoms that brings.

hug tree Love is a state of synchronization between all the bodys systems. When your eyeballs, your ears, your nose and you toes are all working together in harmony, your sense perceptions are more acute, and you perceive and respond to the world more effectively. Synchronization among systems in proximity to one another happens everywhere in nature: schools of fish that all make a right turn at the exact same moment- flocks of geese flying in formation- women in dormitories cycling together. These are all forms of natures entrainment. If you were to take pendulum clocks of all different sizes and set them going at different rates within a sphere of influence of one another, they too, would synch up to one another on their on and follow this pattern of natural entrainment. The one clock the others would respond to and follow is the largest one, because its electrical sphere of influence is greater by the size of its swing. In order for us to be in love all or at least more of the time, we need to learn to create order in our biggest pendulum so that everything else in our body-minds has a clear leader to follow and synch up to. So what part of us is the biggest pendulum? The heart!heart tree

The largest electromagnetic oscillator in the body is the human heart, which generates 2.5 watts if electricity with every beat and has 40-60x greater electrical output than the systems of the brain and all other structures of the body put together. It generates an electromagnetic field approximately five to eight feet in every direction, saturating every cell in the body and extending beyond it. In a human being, the heart is the pendulum which can set the stage for entrainment of all the other physiological systems. So how do we create order in the heart?

Researchers at the Institute of HeartMath made the remarkable discovery that emotions such as love, care and appreciation generate a uniquely ordered pattern in the heart, and conversely order in the heart gives us a subjective experience of love. Voila! The link between the heart, and love!

This synchronization of all of the bodys systems which leads to an experience of love can be trained: specific tools taught in our Beginner HeartMath Webinar and HeartMastery Program, as well as biofeedback technology developed by HeartMath called the emWave can help us create internal order in the heart and experience more love by conscious choice.

The heart is also the origin of the only known sensory pathway in the nervous system that can directly alter higher brain function. This is why people, and life, look different to us through the eyes of love. To see things clearly, truly as they are, we must look at them through the eyes of a loving heart in synch with the rest of us and in harmony with our world.

Your heart is truly your own Valentine, the source of continuous, eternal, unconditional love within you. Tune into to this weeks HeartStart call to find out more!

Valentine's Day

February 14 is Valentine's Day. Although it is celebrated as a lovers' holiday today, with the giving of candy, flowers, or other gifts between couples in love, it originated in 5th Century Rome as a tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic bishop.

For eight hundred years prior to the establishment of Valentine's Day, the Romans had practiced a pagan celebration in mid-February commemorating young men's rite of passage to the god Lupercus. The celebration featured a lottery in which young men would draw the names of teenage girls from a box. The girl assigned to each young man in that manner would be his sexual companion during the remaining year.

In an effort to do away with the pagan festival, Pope Gelasius ordered a slight change in the lottery. Instead of the names of young women, the box would contain the names of saints. Both men and women were allowed to draw from the box, and the game was to emulate the ways of the saint they drew during the rest of the year. Needless to say, many of the young Roman men were not too pleased with the rule changes.

Instead of the pagan god Lupercus, the Church looked for a suitable patron saint of love to take his place. They found an appropriate choice in Valentine, who, in AD 270 had been beheaded by Emperor Claudius.

Claudius had determined that married men made poor soldiers. So he banned marriage from his empire. But Valentine would secretly marry young men that came to him. When Claudius found out about Valentine, he first tried to convert him to paganism. But Valentine reversed the strategy, trying instead to convert Claudius. When he failed, he was stoned and beheaded.
